Friends,

Invested Interests is excited to launch our new newsletter! We want to keep in touch with our clients, our friends and those interested in what we do. For those not familiar with us, Invested Interests.com is an investment advisor dedicated to promoting social investing. As financial advisors, we invest on behalf of our clients to earn them great returns and many, but not all, of our clients incorporate social screens with their investments. Our website features great free tools that allow anyone and everyone to become a social investor.

Our newsletter is about you. It will include short summaries of how-to articles and news that our visitors have found useful. For everyone that uses our tools, we will also provide updates on improvements. We will also try to put something fun and unique in each issue.

We have been receiving great PR and want to thank everyone that has helped spread our message. Our credo is to make social investing a “no-brainer” decision in which you are earning a higher return while aligning your investments with your values. Not only is this possible, but we are doing it right now.

Thank you very much,
Brandon J. Small

CSAG also provides this data to CalPERS and the University of California. more > >

About the conflict in Darfur:
Nearly three years into the crisis, the western Sudanese region of Darfur is acknowledged to be a humanitarian and human rights tragedy of the first order. The humanitarian, security and political situation continue to deteriorate: atrocities continue, people are still dying in large numbers of malnutrition and disease, and a new famine is feared. According to reports by the World Food Program, the United Nations and the Coalition for International Justice, 3.5 million people are now hungry, 2.5 million have been displaced due to violence, and 400,000 people have died in Darfur thus far. The international community is failing to protect civilians or to influence the Sudanese government to do so. more > > (Excerpt from SaveDarfur.org)

Top Client Question for May 2006

Submitted by N. Tharp on March 13, 2006

Question:
Can U.S. government general obligations (e.g. treasury) be considered "socially responsible?”

Answer:
Like any bond, you're loaning your funds to someone else for their operations. You 'are' the bank in this transaction. Does this mean that you are directly supporting the war in Iraq, or "liberal" government sponsored HIV prevention programs? Probably not. more > >

Screen your Mutual Fund for Social Issues!

This is our first big success. Invested Interests maintains the only online database of mutual fund holdings. That’s right, your mutual fund invests directly into corporations (on average, between 50-100 different stocks) on your behalf, yet it is nearly impossible to find out which companies are in a mutual fund. We know. In addition, we know which companies are failing/passing a variety of social screens. You can use this information to find out what you own or to help you compare different mutual fund options. more > >

Return Results for Social Mutual Funds

There are over 100 mutual funds (out of a universe of approximately 13,000 funds) that use social screens. Before now, you could not compare them side-by-side. We’ve found everything you’ll need to know about these funds and organized this information in a useful way. With our tool you can sort by performance, annual fees, social screens, or a number of other criteria. more > >
